Box Office Blockbuster movie "Eclipse" in Full Moon for Record Tickets Sales

Sizzling Times at the Box Office for Moon Die Hard Fans

"Eclipse," the third twilight saga installment of a film produced from the best-selling vampire romance novels, netted than $30 million at the box office in America and Canada Tuesday night. Something about showing a movie after the sun sets or after midnight about vampires, just seems to bring out the best in the huge following of movie goers. According to those keeping track - Summit Entertainment - they are still counting ticket sales, so numbers could be highers.
Midnight screenings are usually a great sign at theaters, especially for the kick off of summer movies.
Those in charge are now wondering if "Eclipse" will be a larger box office hit than "New Moon" or if they will receive a total domestic gross of about $300 million. \
Since most of us have Monday off for the 4th of July holiday,  this movie is predicted to gross big bucks in the first week, more close to $200 million.
More than $1 million of "Eclipse" ticket sales Tuesday night came from Imax screens according the Los Angeles Times.
It appears that the huge following of movie stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart is paying off, if the recent premiere is any indication.
"Eclipse" has the advantage of being the first "Twilight" movie to open in the summer and also the first to play on Imax screens -- 193 total -- which carry higher ticket prices. However, "Eclipse" also easily broke the previous record for midnight ticket sales in the summer: $22.2 million for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" last summer.

The Karate Kid Kicks Up Interest in Self Defense at the Box Office

Just like everyone else after seeing the first Karate Kid movie two decades ago, I had preconceived notions that if I went to the new Karate Kid movie (June 11th)  that it would be like most of these action sequels. Boy, was I surprise for two reasons.

First reason: Jaden Smith (Will Smith's son, Pursuit of Happiness) and Jackie Chan both delivered a powerful performance, and I am soooooooooooooooooo glad I saw this in the theaters.

There are parts of the movie, of which I will not ruin for you that does make a grown man cry, but every childhood memory some of us little guys have from the school play yard bullies came alive. I remember when I was in the 5th grade and very skinny, and shy, the bigger kids would pick on me.

But as soon as I took Judo, became a brown belt, and later Karate, not only did people leave me alone, but it gave me confidence in just about everything. There is a message in this movie, and I will buy you lunch if you can not figure this one out. Thumbs up, 9+ (out of 10) must see with your family, especially teenage boys.

Oh the second reason, too: The movie was filmed entirely in China, which even if you do not like the karate sessions, or bully scenes, you will love the huge Wall and the visuals are breathtaking.
Must see movie. Look for The Karate Kid II soon, save me some popcorn please.

Hey, FYI Little Caesars, which sells hot delicious pizza's for $5 is giving away free autographed posters from the movie at each outlet. Don't forget to get a Pepsi to wash it down, too.
Pepperoni is my favorite. What's yours?

Hollywood Publicists Scores Big in Six Events In One Day.  92-year-old Hollywood publicist Julian Myers competed in the California State Senior Meet June 5th at CalTech in Pasadena in track and field in his age group and won five first places and a second  “to popularize AmigoDay,” Myers said.

AmigoDay is the holiday he and his wife Patsy founded six years ago:  “Just greet anyone anywhere, your way, any month’s first Sunday.”

The Senior Meet was open to anyone from anywhere so it fit AmigoDay’s criterion for sponsorship and Myers’ participation.

Myers was second in the 50-meter, tied for first in the 100, won the 200, 400 and  1,500 meter and long jump.

Julian Myers after running 90 miles from San Diego to LA invited 390 of his best friends to his 90th birthday party that ends on the same day as the LA Marathon.
He won the 1,500- meter American championships in 2006, 2007, 2008 and “probably 2009" which he scored at the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah.     Each year he participates in six events in St. George in one day (“for AmigoDay”),  and will again October 6th.
