Actor Timothy Woodward Jr. stars in ‘Finders Keepers: The Root of all Evil’ - a non stop suspense and action thriller in 2013

This story first appeared on CNN.com

If you don’t want too much gore, but a lot of action than you might find Finders Keepers: The Root of all Evil’ is your best bet.  It is described as “a high stakes poker game, drug lord, a million dollars and a set of ruthless killers who want it all.”

Award winning Actor, Director Timothy Woodward Jr. stars in this horror thriller. Woodward steals a page from Actor, Director Ben Affleck’s book of acting and directing this feature, which was written by Pia Cook and Todd Gordon.

The full feature film is being release through SKY Studios, a content partner of NBC/Fox/ABC’s on demand distributor Hulu.com. Finders Keepers artwork and trailer were posted on IMDB recently and has already starting to create a buzz around Hollywood.

The film about a band of degenerate criminals, the feature crashes their dastardly plots and schemes into the lives of a group of 20 something year olds who are innocently celebrating a birthday. The character that stands out the most is that of “Chuck” played by Richard Bachellor who showed up on set the first day of filming and refused to leave until he was given a part. Bachellor was cast almost by accident, and turned out to produce one of the best performances of the film.

The filming of Finders Keepers: The Root of all Evil is in post production and is expected to be released in early 2013. What makes this film even more interesting is the notion that Woodward deliberately chose non-actors or actors with very little experience. While some in Hollywood might consider this unique technique risky or foolish, it paid off this time around. The final product comes out about as gritty, realist and as raw as you can imagine.

Lorali McGill - Timothy Woodward Jr.
Cook and Woodward have become a known duo, working together on several films including “Blackout” starring Timothy Woodward Jr. and Emmy award winning actor Bill Oberst Jr., and the much anticipated first installment of the new modern day Dracula trilogy. Hang on to your popcorn when you want these films, because there’s quite a bit of unexpected action. More on Dracula Trilogy later.

Toys for Tots, Celebrities and Santa Claus helped launch The Hollywood Film Journal at STATUS LA Magazine holiday benefit

Singers Michelle Slayden and Karen Stell Jane help Santa.

Christmas is a half a month away, but for many underprivileged children and victims of Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast, there may be no Christmas without organizations like the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots foundation.

Santa Claus brought his sleigh of helpers (U.S. Marines) to the Sunset Gower Studios (1438 N Gower St. Hollywood, Ca 90028) this week.  The red carpet celebrity benefit was also the official launch of The Hollywood Film Journal (THFJ) put on by The STATUS LA Magazine.
We wanted to get every in the spirit of the holidays and we also wanted to created a publication that appealed not only to filmmakers, but also to film lovers,” said Lauren de Normandie, editor, The Hollywood Film Journal, which published its first November/December issue.
“We believe awareness is key in Hollywood when it comes to putting on celebrity charity events,” explained de Lauren. “We can’t think of a better way to spotlight the need for Toys for Tots than to roll out the red carpet during December.”
De Normandie said The Hollywood Film Journal will combine industry equipment, tips and tricks, with entertainment news highlights.  She also noted, much like the launch in October for STATUS LA Magazine (http://www.statusthemagazine.com/), there may be a celebrity benefit to honor events like, ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month’.
In its premiere issue this month, The Hollywood Film Journals features the movie “Lincoln”, produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, as its  cover story. It stars Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. A short list of other stars includes: Hal HolbrookTommy Lee JonesJohn Hawkes and Jackie Earle Haley to name a few. Bruce McGill. The Hollywood Film Journal will take a look at the best and worst movies of 2012 as the publication gears up for the Oscars, too.

The Hollywood Film Journal holiday event featured red carpet activities complimentary drinks, food and live entertainment from “Alen”, DJ Red and others to name a few. U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distributes them as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community.  Tatrateas, Hula Girl Beverages, Monster and Sunset Gower Studios are sponsoring the celebrity charity event in Hollywood. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2 Hangs on to #1 at the Box Office

This story first appear in The Hollywood Journal.Be sure to RSVP for the launch of the magazineand US Marines Toys For Tots at the SunsetGower Studios, Sat., Dec. 8th, 8:00 pm. (more)

Lots of twists and turns on and off the big screen for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2

The Twilighters couldn’t believe the saga of their favorite stars and series of blockbuster films would come to an end. And if the turnout of some 2,000 fans at the LA premiere is a gage, you would never know The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Park 2  means “The End”. The extravaganza was jammed packed with reporters on one side of the red carpet, and fans on the other side getting pictures and autographs from like Kristen StewartRobert PattinsonTaylor LautnerPeter Facinelli. The premiere and movie were the final appearances of Edward, Bella and Jacob.
Taylor LautnerAccording to the box office receipts, "Twilight" film series finale raked in the sixth-largest opening day ever on Friday, biting down on what Lionsgate/Summer estimated at $71 plus million in domestic box-office receipts. The movie continues to lead the worldwide box office through the holidays.
Ashley Greene signs autographs for fans.
As of Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, worldwide Summit Entertainment’s Twilight Saga totals $620,092,504 worldwide thanks to some nearly $350 million overseas during the week after Thanksgiving. In America it amounts to $254,592,504.This could be the first time in the history of the studio that Summit’s parent company, Lionsgate taps the $1 billion notch internationally.
The Studio’s earnings reported have passed the $2 billion mark, another first with more than $1 billion for both markets. LA Times attributes the box office success “to a weak Brad Pitt movie”:http://tiny.cc/jpipow

A big surprise this year was the fact the studios experimented for the first time with 10 p.m. showings for Part 2 movie, which did not happen for Part 1. The late Thursday night showings drew long lines around the country for the 10 pm and midnight opening, which earned $30.4 million.

Kristen Stewart poses for fan photos on the red carpet.
Another eye opener: Robert Pattinson, who was expected to be breaking up with Kristen Stewart after the cheating scandal is “Breaking Dawn” with her instead and reunited.

Both are reportedly expecting their first child together only a few months after they were ripped apart by a cheating scandal. The incident involved Stewart and Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, who’s married with children. Ok! Magazine plastered headlines, “We having a Baby” and after reconciliation two months ago.  And at the premiere in England, Pattinson shot down rumors that he was going to marry his girlfriend of three years.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 breaks new ground in Social Media, too.

ormally when such blockbuster movies as Liongate’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Park 2 premieres, the movie stars eyes are all on the flashing cameras and TV crews in the press box on the red carpet.

But on this big opening night (Nov. 12, 2012), at the Nokia Center L.A. Live Theater in downtown Los Angeles, stars like Kristen StewartRobert PattinsonTaylor LautnerPeter Facinelli and other celebs spent more time signing autographs and allowing fans to take their pictures more than the media.

The stars know too well they wouldn’t be where they are today without the fans. Social Media - Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Google+ - has become a game changer on the red carpet. Sites globally expose stars to a new fan base, so by the time the finale premiered later in the week in London and Europe, the fans already knew what to expect.

Summit and Lionsgate didn’t know what to expect, but one thing is for sure, Christmas came early.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 breaks new ground in Social Media - All mysteries unveiled at box office friday

TheTwilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2
breaks new ground in Social Media
Taylor Lautner

Normally when such blockbuster movies as Liongate’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Park 2 premieres, the movie stars eyes are all on the flashing cameras and TV crews in the press box on the red carpet.

But on this big night (Nov. 12, 20212), at the Nokia Center L.A. Live Theater in downtown Los Angeles, stars like Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli and other celebs spent more time signing autographs and allowing fans to take their pictures more than the media.
Photographers wait for the celebs to turnaround for photos.
The U-shape setup is a trademark of Lionsgate’s style. Unlike The world famous Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA, where fans traditionally line up across the street on Hollywood Blvd.,  LA Live at Nokia Center in downtown LA allows the screaming fans to camp out for five days opposite of the media, but close enough for autographs and digital cameras. The stars know too well they wouldn’t be where they are today without the fans. Social Media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Google+ and other social networks globally expose stars to a new fan base so when this epic finale premieres in London and Europe later this week, fans already know what to expect. The much anticipated teenage phenomenon film opens nationwide on Friday Nov. 16th.

Robert Pattinson (left) engages fans before media.
Underneath all those screaming fans are shout outs from cameramen in the press box, “turnaround Kristen, over the shoulder Robert and look over here Taylor.” The advance of high speed access, smart phones, Ipads and other handheld devices has change the traditional style of covering celebrities at premiers. Fans first media second. The film and teenage phenomenon premiere attracted 2,000 fans. This is the epic finale of novelist Stephenie Meyer's four best sellers and this is probably the most violent of the teenage phenomenon movie about the girl-vampire-werewolf love triangle. The worldwide blockbuster is sure to please obsessive fans, who spend a week just to get in the front row for an photo together with their idol stars. The fans are sure to love this mega hit that has made three actors overnight sensations. The last two adaptations of the book were actually split into projects “Breaking Dawn-Part 1 and this Friday “Break Dawn Part 2.” The both last year and this years hit was directed by Bill Condon, who is has mastered horror movies. This one is no different.Short synopsis (imdb):Bella is enjoying her new life and new powers, after the birth of their daughter, Renesmee.  Soon, however, their family bliss is threatened again, by a new menace. Vampire Irina believes a child like Renesmee could challenge the power and existence of the Volturi.
Julianne Hough
