Toys for Tots, Celebrities and Santa Claus helped launch The Hollywood Film Journal at STATUS LA Magazine holiday benefit

Singers Michelle Slayden and Karen Stell Jane help Santa.

Christmas is a half a month away, but for many underprivileged children and victims of Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast, there may be no Christmas without organizations like the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots foundation.

Santa Claus brought his sleigh of helpers (U.S. Marines) to the Sunset Gower Studios (1438 N Gower St. Hollywood, Ca 90028) this week.  The red carpet celebrity benefit was also the official launch of The Hollywood Film Journal (THFJ) put on by The STATUS LA Magazine.
We wanted to get every in the spirit of the holidays and we also wanted to created a publication that appealed not only to filmmakers, but also to film lovers,” said Lauren de Normandie, editor, The Hollywood Film Journal, which published its first November/December issue.
“We believe awareness is key in Hollywood when it comes to putting on celebrity charity events,” explained de Lauren. “We can’t think of a better way to spotlight the need for Toys for Tots than to roll out the red carpet during December.”
De Normandie said The Hollywood Film Journal will combine industry equipment, tips and tricks, with entertainment news highlights.  She also noted, much like the launch in October for STATUS LA Magazine (http://www.statusthemagazine.com/), there may be a celebrity benefit to honor events like, ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month’.
In its premiere issue this month, The Hollywood Film Journals features the movie “Lincoln”, produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, as its  cover story. It stars Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. A short list of other stars includes: Hal HolbrookTommy Lee JonesJohn Hawkes and Jackie Earle Haley to name a few. Bruce McGill. The Hollywood Film Journal will take a look at the best and worst movies of 2012 as the publication gears up for the Oscars, too.

The Hollywood Film Journal holiday event featured red carpet activities complimentary drinks, food and live entertainment from “Alen”, DJ Red and others to name a few. U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distributes them as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community.  Tatrateas, Hula Girl Beverages, Monster and Sunset Gower Studios are sponsoring the celebrity charity event in Hollywood.
